Geelong West Community Consultation

Securing our energy supply

Victoria is transitioning to a renewable energy future. However, until our state achieves full renewable capacity, we face potential gas shortages.

Vopak’s Victoria Energy Terminal proposes to build a floating liquefied natural gas import terminal to help address this shortage and secure energy supply as Victoria transitions to renewables.

Vopak is an industry leader in energy infrastructure, currently operating four LNG terminals.

The proposed floating import terminal will be moored at an existing anchorage point in Port Phillip Bay, approximately 19km o shore from Avalon. The location of the site minimises the visual impact on local residents and communities – see map on the back.

To help you understand more about the project, we are 'poppingup' for a fresh round of community consultations in Portarlington, Geelong and Werribee.

Come along, have a coffee, meet the team, and find out about the project.
